Summary Says no room for additional incentives for federal ministers

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Federal Minister for Law and Justice Senator Azam Nazir Tarar has said petrol quota for federal ministers has been significantly reduced as part of the government's austerity campaign.

In a statement issued here on Sunday, Azam Nazir Tarar said that the monthly quota of ministers has been reduced from 400 litres to 200 litres. The government is implementing various measures to reduce expenditure and promote financial discipline.

As a result of the austerity campaign, the privileges and facilities of federal ministers have been significantly reduced.

He said under the current policy, there is no room for additional incentives for federal ministers. He said that if anyone has an objection to the 200-litre monthly petrol quota, further discussions can be held in this regard.

The Federal Law Minister said that the government is committed to better utilisation of national resources and elimination of unnecessary expenses. With this aim, austerity measures are being implemented in various ministries and government institutions.

Azam Nazir Tarar added that reducing government expenditure will not only reduce the burden on the national exchequer but will also help in establishing financial discipline.

The government has already reduced several facilities available to ministers and senior officials and further steps will be reviewed under the austerity policy in the future, the minister went on saying.
